The Australian Curriculum for Science has three interrelated strands: Science Understanding, Science as a Human Endeavour and Science Inquiry Skills, and all are explored in detail at Williamstown Primary School. The three strands of the science curriculum provide students with knowledge and skills through which they can develop a scientific view of the world and understand primary connections. Students are challenged to explore science, its concepts, nature and uses through inquiry processes.
Williamstown Primary School has a strong focus on Sustainability with our SEMP (School Environment Management Plan). Our school plan focuses on zero waste, promoting our bee population and developing a kitchen garden. The Science teacher leads the plan with the support of staff. Regular SEMP committee meetings keep the plan moving forward.
During the school year, students have an opportunity to participate in the Oliphant Science Awards and Crest awards demonstrating their scientific knowledge and skills.
